The Decorah Viking girls cross country team will be running in the State Class 3A Cross Country Meet next Friday for the 15th year in a row.

The Vikings were one of three teams to punch their ticket to Fort Dodge at the 3A State Qualifier Meet Wednesday at Waverly.  Decorah, Waverly-Shell Rock and Center Point-Urbana all finished with 81 points, but Decorah was declared the winner of the meet since its 6th runner finished ahead of the 6th runners from Waverly and CPU.

Decorah's Rebecca Anderson finished second as an individual, behind Charles City runner Kiki Connell.  Anderson crossed the finish line in 18:24.87, with an average time of under six minutes per mile.

Decorah's Samantha See finished 17th with a time of 20:45.14, followed by Decorah's Leila Johnson in 18th with a time of 20:45.70.

Decorah's Taryn Sanderman crossed the finish line 23rd with a time of 21:02.85, followed shortly later by Madison Tollefson in 25th place with a time of 21:06.19.

That set the stage for Kryia Atwell of the Vikings to help her team finish first by finishing 30th as an individual, with a time of 21:22.77.  Decorah's Abby Halverson finished shortly behind, in 32nd, with a time of 21:24.99.  Waverly's 6th runner finished 40th, while CPU's 6th runner finished 48th.
