Decorah Viking girls basketball team loses to Waverly-Shell Rock

The Decorah Viking girls basketball team played against Waverly-Shell Rock at the Waverly High School Friday night and came home with a loss.

It was a close game against Waverly-Shell Rock.  The two sides were tied 13-13 at the end of the first quarter.  Waverly took a 27-20 lead by at halftime. Decorah trailed Waverly by just three points at the end of the third quarter, but Waverly outscored Decorah 12-3 in the final quarter to take a 48-36 victory.

Bryar Duwe led the Decorah Vikings with 13 points, followed Emma Nierengarten with 7 points.

Viking head coach Shannon Quandahl commented: "We executed our game strategy well holding (Annie) Draper to 8 points. We had too many offensive lapses and left too many points on the the free throw line. This was a good test for us to see where we need to make improvements."
