Last year's Decorah Viking boys basketball team went 18-5 and won the Northeast Iowa Conference championship for the first time since 1998.  So the job of this year's Viking boys basketball team is to find the replacements for last year's leaders who graduated.

At home on Friday night, the Vikings dropped a 62-41 decision to Western Dubuque.  The Hawks led for the entire game--by 11-6 after the first quarter, by 35-18 at halftime, by 45-24 at the end of the third quarter and by 62-41 when the buzzer sounded.

Eight members of the Vikings scored, however.  Two were in double digits: Sean Murphy had 11 points and Charles Robinson had 10 points.

The Vikings return to action on Tuesday, hosting the Oelwein Huskies, who are 2-1 on the young season.
