Viking head coach Jonathan Carlson cuts down the nets last season after his team won the NEIC championship.

The Decorah Viking boys basketball team won 18 games last year while losing only five.  But several members of that team have graduated, including 1st Team All-Conference honorees Matthew Franzen and Logan Halverson.  Several members of the team have returned, however—Charlie Robinson, Joe Bockman, Briggs Duwe, Mason O'Hara, and Gunnar Steine—along with eight or nine other players who are competing for spots on the floor.

Seven current juniors will play for the Vikings—guards Jacob Pipho, Addae Whitsitt, guard/forwards Bennett Schutte, Carson Wemark and Haywood Stowe, and centers Joe Hjelle and Kendall McCain.

Head coach Jonathan Carlson, who is entering his 9th year in the position, says, "We are going to be a bit green in regards to varsity experience…but this year's group has been highly successful as freshmen and junior varsity players, so we expect to continue to compete at a high level."
