Decorah Viking boys cross country team qualifies for the 2020 State Meet

The Decorah Viking boys cross country team qualified for the State Meet on Wednesday in Waverly, making it the 37th time in the school's history to qualify for the state meet.

The Vikings finished third with 63 points, behind Center Point-Urbana with 54 points and Marion with 55 points, but comfortably ahead of fourth place Waverly-Shell Rock, which finished with 88 points.

Brady Hogan led the Viking team, finishing 3rd individually with a time of 15:55.51.  Decorah's Noah Lovelace finished 10th with a time 0f 16:46.30; Hogan Smith was 13th with a time of 16:55.87; Arlo Hayes finished 16th with a time of 16:57.85; Bennet Schutte was 20th with a time of 17:16.56; Izaak Eichinger was 21st with a time of 17:17.78; and Larson Shockey finished 27th, with a time of 17:31.86. 

There were 89 runners at the State Qaulifier Meet in Waverly, meaning all seven Viking boys runners finished in the top third.

It's on to Fort Dodge next Friday for the Vikings--the 17th year in a row that Decorah will be running in the race.
