Decorah Viking volleyball team struggles at day two of NEIC Tournament

After finishing in second place in the Northeast Iowa Conference during the regular season, the Decorah Viking volleyball squad had a bad day Saturday at the second day of the NEIC Tournament.

The Vikings dropped three out of four matches, including matches against teams they had previously beaten.

Decorah started well, beating Oelwein 2-0 by scores of 21-10 and 21-16.  However, the Vikings dropped their next three matches, losing to Charles City 17-21, 21-15, 10-15; losing to New Hampton 18-21, 18-21 and losing to Waverly-Shell Rock 15-21, 9-21.

Decorah is now 18-11.  It will begin playoff action at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, hosting Mason City, which is 4-20.
