The Luther College women's tennis team defeated Coe College 9-0 on Sunday to become the champions of the American Rivers Conference.
The title was a league record 29th and was the fourth title won by the Norse in the past five years.
Luther finished the A-R-C regular season with a perfect mark of 8-0. The Norse dominated throughout the schedule, dropping just six matches during their championship run. The team posted a combined singles record of 44-4 and a combined doubles record of 22-2.
Luther is coached by Adam Strand, who is in the midst of his tenth season. During his tenure, Luther has recorded a dual meet record of 140-79.
The league title also secured the top seed and hosting privilege for the A-R-C NCAA Automatic Qualification Tournament in the spring. The three-day event will begin April 27th with first round match-ups at the higher seed, followed by the semis and the final on Luther's home courts April 30th through May 1st. The Norse get a first-round bye in the event, which determines the A-R-C's automatic bid to the national tournament.
