Viking girls swim team celebrates Senior Night with a victory over Vinton-Shellsburg

It was Senior Night Thursday for the Decorah Viking girls swim team at the Luther College Aquatic Center, and the Vikings celebrated with a 120-59 victory over Vinton-Shellsburg.
Decorah had eight first place finishes and several events in which swimmers finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Margaret Rhodes won the 200 yard freestyle event, finishing in 2:10.79. Brinley Krivachek took first in diving, earning a score of 211.95 points. Paige Werner took the 100 yard butterfly, finishing in 1:08.14. Katerina Kovarik finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke, with a time of 1:16.03.
There were two events in which Vikings took the top three spots. In the 100 yard freestyle, Emily Voyna was first with a time of 58.68 seconds, followed by Margaret Rhodes in second with a time of 1:00.81 and Kiana Folkedahl third with a time of 1:02.18. In the 500 yard freestyle, Grace Bachelder took first with a time of 6:06.56, followed by Joey Vobr with a time of 6:18.21 and Mia Smedsrud with a time of 6:20.91.
Two Viking relay teams did well, finishing first. In the 200 yard freestyle relay, Kiana Folkedahl Maeley Nefzger, Katerina Kovarik and Julia Alberts finished in 1:48.10. In the 400 yard freestyle relay, it was the team of Emily Voyna, Paige Werner, Julia Alberts and Katerina Kovarik taking first place with a time of 3:56.01.
