The Decorah Viking girls cross country team finished first at Tuesday's South Winneshiek Invitational--but they had to share the glory. The Vikings tied South Winneshiek, 54 to 54, at the 11-team competition.
Decorah was once again led by Rebecca Anderson, whose time of 19:09.68 won her first place. Decorah's Lelia Johnson took 8th place, finishing in 21:24.26.
The rest of the Viking squad finished in a pack from 13th through 21st place. Kriya Atwell took 13th with a time of 21:54.08; Samantha See finished 15th with a time of 22:03.05; Madison Tollefson earned 17th place with a time of 22:18.24; Abby Halverson was 19th with a time of 22:29.38; and Annalise Skrade finished 21st with a time of 22:43.19.
The Viking girls cross country team now enters the tournament portion of its schedule, beginning next Tuesday, October 13th, when it will vie for the Northeast Iowa Conference championship at Cresco.
