The Decorah Viking volleyball squad got a chance to play a lot of volleyball Saturday at the Western Dubuque Tournament. The Vikings split their four matches and got to play against some good competition.
Decorah started with a match against Pleasant Valley, which brought a record of 15 wins and 1 loss into the match. Decorah lost, but played close, dropping a 21-15, 21-16 score.
The Vikings beat their next two opponents, topping Davenport North 21-14 and 23-21, then beating Tipton in two sets, 21-18 and 21-11.
Decorah finished the tournament by taking on another good team--Dubuque Senior High School, which has a record of 15 wins and 7 losses. The Vikings lost the first set, 22-20, before coming back to take the second set, 21-16, but lost the third set, 15-6.
The Vikings now have this week off and can spend their practice time preparing for NEIC co-leader Waverly-Shell Rock, which will visit Decorah on October 13th.
