Decorah Viking boys cross country team wins the Western Dubuque Invitational in Epworth

Ten of the Decorah Viking boys cross country team runners in Epworth on Thursday at the Western Dubuque Invitational finished in the top third of all runners, with the top five Viking runners finishing in the top 20 percent.

That meant another victory for the cross country boys, who finished with 41 points, comfortably ahead of Cedar Rapids Kennedy.

Decorah senior Brady Hogan was the first to cross the finish line.  Hogan's time was 16:37.3. which was 43 seconds ahead of the second place runner.  Noah Lovelace finished 4th, with a time of 17:09.5.  Arlo Hayes was 10th with a time of 17:24.5; Hogan Smith finished 12th in 17:34.1; Larson Shockey was 14th with a time of 17:44.6.

The other five runners and their places and times were: Izaak Eichinger, 20th with a time of 17:53.0; Bennet Schutte, 21st with a time of 17:55.5; August Witt, 29th with a time of 18:03.2; Cade Olson, 32nd with a time of 18:134.8; and Adrian Huang, 33rd with a time of 18:14.1.
