Viking girls junior varsity overcomes a challenge from Elkader Central

18 of the top 20 junior varsity girls cross country finishers at the Waukon Invitational Tuesday were either from Decorah or Elkader Central.  But Decorah had 13 top 20 runners, while Elkader Central had five, so the result was a 23-39 victory for the Viking JV girls.

Decorah's Madison Tollefson crossed the finish line first in the JV race, with a time of 23:13.9.  After two Elkader Central runners finished second and third, Decorah's Brynn Storhoff crossed the finish line next, in 24:03.7.  She was followed by Decorah's Annalise Skrade in 5th (24:11.3); Danielle Losen in 6th (24:12.4); Rachel Bower in 7th (24:18.5); Brielle Buresh in 9th (24:34.0) and Maggie Kane in 10th (24:38.0).

Other top 20 Viking finishes came from Kathryn Kelly, Naomi Simon, Clara Rooney, Claire Schutte, Grace Brynsaas and Sierra Kruger.

Starmont finished third with 103 points, followed by Crestwood with 104 points and Waukon with 106 points.
