The Vikings celebrate making a point

The Decorah Viking volleyball squad traveled to St. Ansgar Tuesday night and dropped a 3-1 decision on the road.

Decorah lost the first set, 25-15, and the second set, 25-17.  The Vikings came back to take the third set, 25-14, but lost the fourth set, 25-15, and the match, 3-1.

Said head coach Gina Holthaus, "St. Ansgar was a good team, they had size and quickness and mixed things up well and kept us out of system the majority of the evening. I didn't feel that we were ready to play when the match started for whatever reason."

Holthaus said Viking volleyballer Mara Holland had a good night: "serving, setting, hitting and blocking and it was fun to see her perform at that level."

Decorah now has a record of three wins and two losses.  The Vikings will travel to Waukon next Tuesday, September 8th, to face the 3-0 Indians.
