UPDATED: Viking softball team's season ends in a slugfest

The season has ended for the Decorah Viking softball team.

The Vikings lost in a slugfest at home on Saturday night, dropping a 17-14 decision to Mason City.  Mason City jumped out to a 10-1 lead, but the Vikings kept fighting back, scoring five runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning and two runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to bring the score to 10-8 Mason City.  However, Mason City scored six times in the top of the 5th inning to take a 16-8 lead.  Decorah kept fighting back, scoring twice in the bottom of the 5th and four times in the bottom of the 7th, but fell three runs short.

Decorah was led by Bryar Duwe, who went 5-for-5 with three RBIs.  Ella Kittelson, Ellie Luzum, Isabel Ihde, Cora Syverson and Abby Milburg each had two hits.

Decorah ends its season with a record of 8 wins and 7 losses.
