Decorah Vikings softball team beats Oelwein

Monday night, the Decorah Vikings softball team scored a 9-5 victory against Oelwein.

The Vikings were scoreless during the first three innings with Oelwein leading 2-0, but the team came back during the fourth inning to tie it up 2-2. Decorah had six more runs during the fifth inning, and by the end of the night, the Vikings bested Oelwein 9-5.

Emma Johnson drove in three runs for the Vikings, while Isabel Ihde had a double and two RBIs and Avery Shelton had two RBIs.  Johnson and Shelton pitched for the Vikings, with Shelton allowing two earned runs in four innings and Johnson giving up three runs in three innings.

The Decorah softball team is now 7-5 overall and 6-5 in the Northeast Iowa Conference. They will wrap up NEIC competition Tuesday night, playing a single game at New Hampton.
