Decorah Viking softball team beats Waverly on Wednesday and Waukon on Friday

The Decorah Viking softball team is now 6-5 on the season after beating Waverly-Shell Rock 14-1 in Waverly on Wednesday and edging Waukon 10-9 at home on Friday.

Isabel Ihde was the hitting star in the game at Waverly, getting four hits and driving in five runs.  Bryar Duwe added a home run for the Vikings. Decorah scored two runs in the 3rd inning, added seven runs in the 5th inning and closed with five runs in the 7th inning.

Meanwhile, Avery Shelton was in control on the mound.  She allowed just four hits and one run over seven innings.

On Friday, Decorah trailed 6-0, but came back with nine runs to take a 9-6 lead.  The Indians responded, tying the game at 9-9, but Decorah scored once in the bottom of the 6th inning to take the 10-9 victory.

Avery Shelton hit a home run on Friday, while Fiona Buresh knocked in two runs.

Decorah will travel to Oelwein Monday evening for a junior varsity/varsity doubleheader.  The Huskies are 5-4 on the season, while Decorah is 6-5.
