Junior softball player Avery Shelton had a good night Wednesday to lead the Decorah Vikings softball team to their first win of the season--a 14-0 win against Waverly-Shell Rock.

Shelton threw four soreless innings, striking out six Go-Hawks.  She also contributed at the plate, hitting a home run in one of her three at-bats.

The Vikings scored two runs in both the first and second innings, then broke the game wide open in the 3rd inning when they pushed across seven runs.  Three more runs in the fourth inning completed their scoring for the night.

The Vikings' record is now 1-1 for the season.

Decorah travels to Waukon Friday night for a JV/Varsity double header.
