The Decorah Viking girls basketball team is playing its best basketball of the season--right at the best time.
The Vikings opened postseason play on Wednesday night by beating the Charles City Comets, 60-49. Four Vikings were in double digit scoring--Abigail Milburn with 18 points, Bryar Duwe with 16 points and Emma Nierengarten and Haley Gossman, each with 10 points.
Decorah took an 11-8 lead in the first quarter and never trailed after that, leading 17-11 at the end of the first quarter, 30-25 at halftime and 40-32 at the end of the third quarter, on their way to the 60-49 final score.
Said head coach Shannon Quandahl, "We have continued to improve with each game throughout the season."
The Vikings will travel to Cedar Rapids on Saturday night to take on 9th-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier.
