Strong defense leads Decorah boys basketball team to victory in Cresco

After leading 28-20 at halftime, the Decorah Viking boys basketball team turned up the defense in the second half at Crestwood High School Tuesday night.  The Vikes held the Cadets to 17 points in the second half, while scoring 26.

The result was a 54-37 victory which improved Decorah's record to 8 wins and 2 losses in the NEIC, 13 and 4 overall.

Decorah is now half a game behind Charles City, with a Valentine's Day contest in Decorah between the two teams looming.

Six Vikings scored Tuesday night, with four of them in double digits.  Charlie Robinson had 16 points, Joseph Bockman scored 12, while Keaton Solberg and Matthew Franzen each scored 10 points.

Decorah will travel to Mabel on Thursday night to play Mabel-Canton.  After that, the Vikings will host Waukon next Tuesday before taking on Charles City at home on February 14th.
