The Decorah Viking girls basketball team scored 30 points in the second half of a home game against Prairie Du Chien Tuesday night. But the scoring burst was too late, as the Vikings had a cold first half, scoring only 9 points in their 55-39 loss to the Blackhawks.
"Putting four quarters together that are consistent, both offensively and defensively, continues to be an area in which we need to grow and mature as a team," said head coach Shannon Quandahl following the game.
Decorah held the Blackhawks to 22 points in the second half, but it didn't matter because Prairie Du Chien led 33-9 at halftime.
Haley Gossman ended with 15 points for the Vikings, while Bryar Duwe had 13 points. Three other Vikings also scored.
Despite the loss, Decorah still is above .500, with 10 wins and 8 losses. Decorah is off until next Tuesday, when it travels to Waukon.
