Boys basketball team improves to 12-4 on the season

The Decorah Viking boys basketball team now has a record of 12 wins and 4 losses.  The Vikings disposed of New Hampton, 54-34, in New Hampton on Friday night.

Neither team shot well in the first half, with Decorah leading by seven points, 27-20, heading into the locker room at halftime.  But the Vikings got used a strong defense in the second half to hold New Hampton to just 14 points, while scoring 27.  As a result, the score was 54-34 as the buzzer went off at the end of the game and Decorah improved to 7-2 in the Northeast Iowa Conference.

Briggs Duwe had a good night for the Vikings, scoring 16 points, with 12 of those points coming on 3-point shots.  Charlie Robinson added 10 points for the Vikings, while Patrick Bockman had 9 points.

Decorah is one game behind Charles City in the Northeast Iowa Conference and half a game in back of Waverly-Shell Rock.  The Vikings will travel to Cresco to take on Crestwood Tuesday night, then will go on the road Thursday for a non-conference game against Mabel-Canton.
