Northeastern Swim Team competes at Minnesota meet

The Northeastern Swim Team from Decorah participated in the SHRK Invitational in Farmington, Minnesota earlier this month.

11-year-old Naomi Kutz placed first in the Girls 100 Yard Backstroke by dropping 1.73 seconds off her previous best time, finishing with a time of 1:29.55.  Naomi also placed second in the Girls 500 yard Freestyle with a time of 7:53.95.

Her brother, 14-year-old Simon Kutz, 14, placed first in the Senior Boys 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:09.78, finished the 400 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 5:23.50, swam the 200 yard Butterfly in 2:44.96, the 100 Yard Backstroke in 1:14.14, and the 200 Yard Individual Medley. He dropped 21 seconds on his 200 Individual Medley time, completing it in 2:29.76.

14-year-old Joey Vobr placed third in the Girls 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:20.54, finished the 200 Backstroke in 2:39.53, and swam in the Individual Medley with a time of 2:27.90. Her sister, 11-year-old Jaylee Vobr, placed first in the Girls 11-12 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:25.97, finished the 100 Yard Individual Medley in 1:12.26 and the 200 Yard Butterfly in 2:35.08, which was 6.19 seconds better than her previous personal best.

12-year-old Isabella Sailor placed second in the Girls 11-12 50 Yard Backstroke with a time of 40.47. She also placed first in the 100 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 1:29.64 and the in the 100 Yard Backstroke by dropping 4.46 seconds and finishing in 1:26.52.  Her sister, 8-year-old Lilly Sailor, placed second in the Girls 8 and under 50 Yard Backstroke with a time of 58.32 and placed third in the 50 Yard Breastroke with a time of 1:22.22.

10-year-old Dawson Irons placed second in the Boys 9-10 50 yard Breaststroke with a time of 47.71 and second in the 100 yard Backstroke with a time of 1:33.12.

11-year-old Avalea Burns placed second in the Girls 11-12 50 Yard Butterfly with a time of 37.96.  Her brother, 9-year-old Dane, placed first in the Boys 9-10 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:09.35, first in the 50 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 46.98, and first in the 50 yard Butterfly with a time of 35.10.

Northeastern Swim Team will return to action Sunday, January 26th, with a home meet at the Luther College Aquatic Center.
