The Decorah Viking girls bowling team is now 4-1 on the season, following a 2,471 to 1,889 victory over Waukon in Waukon Friday afternoon.  Three seniors led the girls--Maddie Putnam bowled a 353, Katherine Bruening had a 344 and Audrey Casterton had a 342.

"The girls are improving every week," said head coach Keith Bruening, adding, "We're starting to click as a team.  We're missing some easy shots, but I'm very, very happy with the girls."

The girls junior varsity also won on Friday evening, improving to 5-0.

The Decorah Viking boys bowling team wasn't as fortunate on Friday afternoon.  They bowled a respectable 2,765, but Waukon has its highest score in their program's history--a 2,914.

Decorah was led by Keagan Einck, who bowled a 381, and Jackson Rollins, who bowled a 364.

"We need to get consisten on our spares," said Bruening, although he added the boys team is improving each week.  Charles City comes to Decorah this week in what will be an important match for both teams.
