The Decorah Viking girls basketball team now has a record of eight wins and three losses.
The Vikings added two more wins to their victory column over the weekend, beating Waukon, 33-30, on Friday night and beating South Winneshiek, 52-11, on Saturday afternoon, with both games played at home.
Friday night's game had both squads struggle to get a basket in the first half, but the Vikings did a better job than Waukon and led 13-8. Both teams did better in the second half, with Decorah still leading, 23-16, at the end of the third quarter and keeping its lead throughout the fourth quarter.
Decorah's Bryar Duwe led the Vikings with 13 points, while five other Vikings also scored.
Saturday afternoon the Vikings found their scoring touch, putting in 36 points in the second quarter to take a 44-7 lead at halftime. Bryar Duwe again led the Vikings, scoring 18 points, but Ambria Pipho added 16 points and Amanda Kuehner had 11 points.
Said Viking head coach Shannon Quandahl after the weekend, "As a coach, it's always great to see your team transfer the things you work on in practice into game situations. These last two games the girls have shown a lot of growth and maturity."
The Viking girls will host MFL/Mar-Mac on Thursday night.
