Girls basketball team splits a pair of games over the weekend

The Decorah Viking girls basketball team lost a game Friday night in New Hampton, but came back on Saturday to beat Rushford-Peterson at Luther College.

Friday night the Vikings led New Hampton 20-19 at halftime, but the Chickasaws outscored the Vikings 30-19 in the second half, pulling away as the game wore on.

Bryar Duwe had a good game Friday night with 17 points.  Five other Vikings scored.

Saturday at Luther, the Vikings started slowly, but picked up in the second half, outscoring Rushford-Peterson 29-9 to take a 49-33 victory.  Kylah Quandahl led the Vikings with 13 points, with Ambria Pipho adding 10 and Bryar Duwe scoring 10.  Quandahl made three 3-point shots to help boost her scoring.

Said Viking head coach Shannon Quandahl after the weekend, "I'm proud of the girls and the progress they have made thus far.  The second half of the season will be fun!"
