Decorah girls bowling team starts its season with a victory

The Decorah Viking girls bowling squad traveled to Tripoli Tuesday afternoon to face Denver and came away with a 2,337 to 1,896 victory.
The Vikings were led by junior Lexie Hauber, who had a 349. Senior Audrey Casterton was close behind with a 334, followed by Katherine Bruening with a 315.
The Vikings were especially strong in the Baker Games, where Katherine Bruening was 8 out of 10 and Audrey Casteron was 7 out of 10.
The Viking junior varsity also won, beating Denver 2,186 to 1,813. They were led by Paige Lange with a 318 and Grace Gerleman with a 299.
"We had a great start to the year," said head coach Keith Bruening, adding, "I'm very proud of the kids--we will be a tough team to beat!"
