Two Luther runners will compete at the NCAA III National Cross Country Championships

The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Championships will be held this coming Saturday—and two Luther College runners have qualified to participate.

Senior Vera Lindhorst from St. Cloud, Minnesota and freshman Ian Kelly from Littleton, Colorado earned all-Central Region honors for the first time of their careers by finishing in the top-35 of their respective races last weekend at the NCAA III Central Regional held Saturday at Wartburg College,

Lindhorst placed eighth from the field of 209 competitors with a time of 22:42 on the 6K course. This will be Lindhorst's first appearance at the national championships.

Kelly placed 17th overall in the men's race from the field of 199 competitors. He covered the 8k course with a time of 26:05.4.

Lindhorst and Kelley will attempt to earn All-American honors by placing in the top-35 at the national championships that will take place at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky, with the men's race beginning at 9:45 a.m. Central time and the women's race at 10:45 a.m.
