Decorah girls cross country team dominates the South Winn Invite

The Lady Vikings ran well on Tuesday night in Calmar at the South Winn Invitational. Decorah earned 23 points for a 1st place finish -- a whopping 76 points ahead of 2nd place Waukon.

Freshman Rebecca Anderson led the way for the team touring the course in 20:09, good for 3rd place. Next was junior Leila Johnson, finishing 4th with a time of 20:18. Seniors Meg Sessions, Kalea Oftedahl, and Annette Leschensky were tightly packed together to earn 6th, 7th, and 8th place with times of 20:54, 20:58, and 21:12 respectively. Senior Britta Swanson claimed 12th place with a time of 21:33, and junior Sam See earned 15th place with a time of 21:37.

Head Coach Cristy Nimrod commented, "I am really proud of the effort and competitiveness of our whole team tonight."

Decorah will finish out their regular season with the Conference meet on Tuesday in Charles City.
