1974 Luther College graduate Jane (Greene) Hildebrand, the college's former head women's basketball coach, has been inducted into the Luther College Athletic Hall of Fame.
From 1985-2011, a span of 27 years, Hildebrand led her women's basketball teams to a record of 438 wins and 260 losses. She is Luther's all-time leader for career wins. She was named conference Coach of the Year six times. Her teams captured seven Iowa Conference titles and made nine appearances in the NCAA III National Tournament, advancing to the Elite 8 twice and placing third in 1992. She coached 33 players who earned 48 all-conference honors, six All-Americans and three conference MVPs.
As a student-athlete, she participated in field hockey, basketball, track and field and gymnastics. She was named to the all-Iowa select team in field hockey; and helped lead Luther to the Intercollegiate Athletics of Women (AIAW) state championship in basketball.
During her career at Luther, she also served as associate athletic director, and was the assistant dean for Student Life from 2011 until she retired in 2017.
