1979 Luther College graduate Jeff Wettach has been inducted into the Luther College Athletic Hall of Fame.

From 1985 until 2019, Wettach had a distinguished coaching career that included head men's track and field coach (1987-2018); head women's track and field coach (2006-18); assistant football coach (1985-2006); and head men's cross country coach (1997-2006). He was also the director of the Luther College Distance Running Camp (1997-2018).

During his 34-year coaching career, he coached 532 all-conference performers, including 106 conference champions, 48 All-Americans and the 2001 indoor distance medley relay that won the national championship.

Wettach came to Luther after graduating from Mt. Pleasant High school in 1975. During his Luther career he was a four-year letter winner in both football and track and field. He was a first-team all-conference defensive back on Luther's 1978 football championship team. He was also a member of three conference championship track teams, capturing the individual conference title in the long jump and also earning all-conference honors in the triple jump.

In 2018, the Luther College Alumni Coach of the Year Award was named in his honor. Earlier this year, he was presented the prestigious NCAA Bob Fredrick Sportsmanship Award, given to a collegiate coach selected from all three divisions of the NCAA.
