The Decorah Viking girls swim team headed to Waterloo/Cedar Falls on Saturday to again take on some of the largest high schools in Iowa.  The Vikings finished 5th out of ten teams, ahead of schools like Mason City, Dubuque Senior HS and Cedar Rapids Jefferson HS.

"I am very happy with how the girls performed," said head coach Allie Bachelder.  "(Team members) have been training hard and came out with some personal best times of the season."

This year there are no class sizes, so the Viking girls will swim again some powerhouse teams at the State Meet.  Currently, Emma Bachelder is ranked 5th in the state in the 100 yard breaststroke and 18th in the 200 yard freestyle, while the 400 yard freestyle relay team is ranked 16th in the state and the 200 yard freestyle relay team is ranked 17th.

Decorah finished with 176 points Saturday at the Marcussen Relay, with Emma Bachelder leading the way by winning the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.10 and taking second the 200 yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:14.32.
