Decorah sophomore football team loses to Waverly

The Decorah Viking sophomore football team fell to the Go-Hawks of Waverly last Thursday evening, 15-0.

Said Coach Matt Kuempel, "Minus a few plays, we played well defensively."  The Vikings were led on defense by Joe Hjelle, who had 2 solo tackles and 6 assisted tackles in the game. Ryan Johanningmier had a solid game as well with 1 solo tackle, 3 assisted tackles and an interception.

Offensively, the Vikings weren't able to put together a drive to find the end zone.  Quarterback Brody Young was 11 for 14 passing for 75 yards. Kody Bodenstiener led the team in receiving with three receptions for 39 yards. Dylan Muhlbauer led the rushing attack with 20 yards on the ground.

The sophomores will return to action Friday night at home to take on the Charles City Comets at 5:00 p.m.
