Saturday was a beautiful day to run, and the top 10 runners on the Decorah girls cross country team did just that at the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational.
Decorah placed 45th out of 57 teams. Leila Johnson was Decorah's top runner. She finished in 196th place with a time of 21:05. Finishing second for Decorah was freshman Rebecca Anderson (218th) with a time of 21:18. Kalea Oftedahl (278th) clocked 21:46, Annette Leschensky (298th) ran a 21:56, Meg Sessions (305th) ran a 22:01, Britta Swanson (339th) ran a 22:19, Sam See (348th) clockled 22:23, Brielle Buresh (374th) clocked 22:44, Fiona Buresh (407th) ran a 23:09, and Brooke Courtney (439th) crossed the finish line in 23:43.
Head coach Cristy Nimrod says, "I felt that we had a really quality race on a hard course. The conditions were perfect for running and we took advantage!"
The Vikings will travel to Epworth on Thrusday for face another large field of tough competition.
