The Decorah Viking freshman football team got its game at Crestwood High School started right on Friday evening.  Ben Wymer caught a Cadet punt at his own 25-yard line and returned it all the way to the end zone for a 75-yard touchdown that put the Vikings up 6-0.

Unfortunately, that was it for highlights for the Vikings on Friday as the Crestwood Cadet freshmen scored 37 unanswered points to win, 37-6.  Crestwood scored four times in the second quarter and twice more in the third quarter to rack up 37 points.

"We played pretty well but the heat took a toll on us and Crestwood had 10 more players than us and with just 20 kids, we couldn't match their level by the mid-2nd quarter," said freshman coach Scott Pierce.  The Vikings had just 102 yards on offense, although they had 251 total yards, including their punt return and kickoff return yardage.

Decorah is now 0-3 on the season.  The freshmen will get Homecoming started on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. when they host the Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks.
