The Decorah Vikings and Charles City Comets played some great high school volleyball on Tuesday night in Decorah.  The Vikings won the first set,25-18, and then took the Comets to the limit before losing 30-28 in the second set.  The Vikings tried to come back in the third set, but lost 25-22 before running out of gas in the fourth set and dropping a 25-13 decision.

Head coach Gina Holthaus called it "a great high school match."  She said the second set was the turning point, when she had to finish with girls out of their normal position and there were a couple of mental errors late in the set.

Decorah was led again by senior Ambria Pipho, who had 23 assists and 11 digs.  Junior Emma Johnson had 26 digs, while senior Brooke Berns had 8 kills.  Amanda Kuehner had a good night with 7 kills. Amelia Dugger had a great night with 7 kills and went 2-2 at the service line with one ace serve.

Decorah is now 3-5 on the season.  The Vikings will travel to Independence on Thursday night, to Hudson to play Waterloo West on Saturday night and to New Hampton next Tuesday night.
