Boys cross country team finishes second at Waverly

The Decorah Viking boys cross country team turned in another strong performance at its latest meet.
The Vikings traveled to Waverly on Tuesday afternoon for the Dick Pollitt Go-Hawk Classic. Decorah finished second out of 13 squads with 22 points. Western Dubuque had five out of the top six finishes to earn 7 points. Waverly was third with 52 points.
Five seniors ran for Decorah. Spencer Peterson finished third with a time of 17:42; Pat Bockman finished 8th in 18:04; Joseph Seo finished 11th with a time of 18:18; Samuel Robinson finished 14th in 18:27; and Willem Hawley finished 16th in 18:34. Hawley's time was better than the time of the #1 runner for six of the 13 teams competing.
"(This was a) very good job by all of our grades," said head coach Brad Johansen following the meet.
The Vikings will next run on Saturday morning at the Luther Invitational.
