Decorah Viking girls swim team continues its success

This has been a good season so far in the early going for the Decorah Viking girls swim team.

The Vikings did well Tuesday in Cedar Falls, beating Dubuque Hempstead 132-50, but losing to the powerful Cedar Falls squad, 119-67.

Emma Bachelder again led the Vikings.  She won the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:15.39 and finished second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 54.52 seconds.  She was also a member of the second place 200 yard freestyle relay team, along with Kiana Folkedahl, Maeley Nefzger and Paige Werner, which finished in 1:45.78; and of the second place 400 yard freestyle relay team, along with Paige Werner, Emily Voyna and Julia Alberts, which finished in 3:49.71

Other second place finishes for the Vikings included the 200 yard medley relay team of Emily Voyna, Ella Hermeier, Julia Alberts and Maeley Nefzger, which finished in 2:02.69; Emily Voyna in the 100 yard butterfly, with a time of 1:05.23; and Katerina Kovarik in the 100 yard breaststroke, with a time of 1:18.30.

Third place finishes were earned by Ella Hermeier in the 100 yard breaststroke, with a time of 1:18.69; Katerina Kovarik in the 500 yard freestyle, with a time of 5:47.51; Alivia Bahr in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:11.10; Paige Werner in the 50 yard freestyle, with a time of 26.79 seconds; and Brinley Krivachek in the diving competition, with a score of 179.75 points.
