Three members of the Decorah girls tennis team have earned Academic All-State Awards

Three Decorah HS graduates who played on the Viking girls tennis team as seniors have been recognized by the Iowa Tennis Coaches Association as Academic All-Staters.

Mara Frieden, Alli Groux and Josie Kleckner all had a grade point average of 3.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale.  They also competed in at least half of their team's varsity tennis matches during the spring season.

Mara Frieden was Decorah's #1 singles player and half of the #1 doubles team.  She was the Northeast Iowa Conference singles champion and qualified for this spring's State Singles Tournament.  Her career singles record was 42-19 and her doubles record was 29-23-2.

Alli Groux was Decorah's #2 singles player and teamed with Mara Frieden on the #1 double team.  Alli finished her high school singles play with a 36-17-2 record and a doubles record of 37-20-2.

Josie Kleckner played both singles and doubles for the Vikings this spring and finished with a career singles record of 18-18-2 and a doubles record of 29-16-2.
