The Decorah Viking baseball team got good pitching and good defense Tuesday night in Cresco and the result was a sweep of a doubleheader with the Crestwood Cadets.

The Vikings took the first game, 6-2, behind the pitching of Ryan Schneberger, who went six innings and gave up just one earned run.  The Vikings scored in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings, with Andy Murphy having three hits and two RBIs and Drake Shelton having two hits and two RBIs.  In all, the Vikings had 10 hits.

The Vikings won the second game, 3-2.  Cael Luzum went the full seven innings, striking out 10.  Luzum also had three hits, while Shelton and Kailer McCabe had RBIs.

Said Head Coach Adam Riley after the games, "Ryan Schneberger and Cael Luzum did an outstanding job in all of their innings of commanding all of their pitches....As we finish up the conference season, we are seeing more consistent effort from a large number of athletes on our team, which is very enjoyable."

Decorah finishes its Northeast Iowa Conference schedule with a record of 10 wins and 8 losses, tied with Oelwein for 4th place.  Overall, Decorah is now 13-15.  The Vikings will host Turkey Valley Wednesday night, kicking off a schedule of five non-conference games over the next two weeks.
