The Decorah Viking baseball team continues to improve, splitting a doubleheader Wednesday night in Oelwein against a good Huskie team.

The Vikes won the first game, 4-1, in what Head Coach Adam Riley called "our most well played game of the year."  The Vikings rode the pitching of Cael Luzum, who gave up just four hits while striking out nine.  Drake Shelton drove in two runs and Keenan Tyler had three hits and score a run.  Said Riley, "Offensively we executed in our at bats and running the bases very well and balanced ourselves through playing consistent defense behind a great pitching effort from Cael Luzum."

In game two, the Vikings went up against "the best pitching performance we have seen so far this season," according to Riley.  Oelwein's Steven Nicolay struck out 11 Vikings and gave up only two hits as the Huskies came back to take a 7-0 victory.

With the doubleheader split, Decorah is now 7-8 on the season.  The Vikings travel to New Hampton on Friday night to take on the Chickasaws, who are 15-2 overall.
