Northeastern Swim Team competes at Iowa City

The Northeastern Swim Team participated in the Splash Out Hunger Invitational over the weekend at the Mercer Aquatic Center in Iowa City.

Anna Knaack swam eight personal best times and earned four new state qualifying times. She placed second in the 10 and under 50 Meter Backstroke with a time of 44.94. She placed second in the 200 Meter Individual Medley dropping 4.72 seconds and finishing in 3:35.36. She also placed third in the 50 and 100 Meter Butterflies.

Katerina Kovarik placed first in the 50 Meter Breaststroke with a time of 41.17 and third in the 50 Meter Butterfly.

Margaret Rhodes placed first in the 50 Meter Butterfly with a time of 32.69, third in the 400 Meter Freestyle with a time of 5:08.27, and second in the 200 Meter Backstroke with a time of 2:51.21.

Cole Huebner placed first in the 200 Meter Butterfly with a time of 2:36.74, second in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 27.52, and third in the 100 Meter Freestyle with a time of 1:00.39.

Simon Kutz dropped 9.48 second on the 400 Meter Freestyle and placed sixth with a time of 5:42.08. He had five personal best times.

Sydney Thompson had two personal best times and placed second in both the 50 Meter Breaststroke with a time of 48.83, and the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 39.14. She also placed third in the 200 Meter Individual Medley with a time of 3:37.54

Garrett Vobr placed second in the 50 Meter Butterfly with a time of 55.80 and third in the 200 Meter Freestyle with a time of 3:26.87.

Jaylee Vobr placed second in the 400 Meter Individual Medley with a time of 6:31.20, and third in the 800 Meter Freestyle with a time of 12:09.44.

Joey Vobr placed sixth in the 50 Meter Backstroke with a time of 41.36, 50 Meter Butterfly in 38.70, and 800 Meter Freestyle in 11:43.59.

Dawson Irons had two personal bests and placed third in the 50 Meter Butterfly with a time of 1:00.23.

Reid Kuehner had three personal best times and placed third in the 200 Meter Freestyle with a time of 3:08.29, improving by 4.22 seconds.

Naomi Kutz had five personal best times and dropped 8.58 seconds on the 100 Meter Freestyle, and 4.30 seconds on the 50 Meter Butterfly.

Nine year old Molly Kuehner had four personal best times and successfully completed the 50 Meter Butterfly with a time of 1:10.30.

In addition to competing, swimmers helped to stock the summer food pantry for kids at Mark Twain Elementary in Iowa City.

This coming Saturday, NST swimmers will participate in the Practice of Champions led by Coach Mike Schuenke.
