The bats were hot on Wednesday night as the Decorah Viking softball team swept a home doubleheader against Waverly-Shell Rock.

The Vikings needed extra innings in the first game of the doubleheader, but pushed across a run in the bottom of the 8th inning to take a 10-9 victory.

The second game of the doubleheader wasn't as close.  The Vikings pushed across 17 runs in just 5 innings and beat Waverly, 17-4.

The wins give Decorah a 5-4 record in the NEIC and a 6-4 record overall.

The Vikings have a few days off before hosting NEIC-leading Charles City on Monday.
