The Decorah Viking baseball team dropped a 5-3 decision Tuesday night in Charles City.

The Vikings tied the game at 2-2 in the 4th inning, but gave up a total of three runs to the Comets in the 5th and 6th innings.  Decorah scored a run in the top of the 7th inning, but couldn't push across any more scores and lost 5-3.

Drake Shelton and Cael Luzum both went 2-for-4 with a double.  Jace Johnson pitched well for the Vikings and deserved a better fate than the loss.

Head coach Adam Riley was pleased with his team's effort, saying, "(we) played much better team baseball through hustle and extra effort...We had great opportunities to score runs and change the complexion of the game in the 1st, 4th and 5th innings, but struggled to come up with a timely hit to break the game open."

The Vikings will host Waterloo East Wednesday night and will host Waukon Friday night.
