Girls golf team beats Waverly in Waverly

Overcoming some putting yips, the Decorah Viking girls golf team brought home a victory from Waverly Golf Course on Monday afternoon. 

Decorah beat Waverly-Shell Rock 397--423.  Decorah's Emma Fretheim was meet medalist with a 46-47=93.  Decorah's Ann Meirick also scored under 100 with a 49-50=99.  Audrey Casterton shot a  46-55=101; Tori Hines carded a 54-50=104; Olivia Fahey had a 51-65=116; and Izzy Elwood shot a 58-65=123.

With the victory, the Decorah girls improved to 15-3.  The girls will host Caledonia at Oneota Golf & Country Club Thursday, then will return to Waverly next Monday for the 12 team 3A Regional Final Meet.

The junior varsity squads played 9 holes instead of 18, with Waverly-Shell Rock's JV winning, 238 to 277.  Brooke Norby led the Viking JV with a 65; Leah Weis shot a 67; Kaitlyn Bohr had a 70; Jane Murphy and Lily McGohan shot 75s; and Emma Buddenberg had a 79.
