Viking girls tennis team can't overcome Waverly-Shell Rock

After the Decorah Viking girls tennis team nearly beat Waverly-Shell Rock in the conference tennis meet earlier this season, the Go-Hawks were ready for the Vikings on Thursday in Waverly.

The Go Hawks took the first set in all six singles matches.  Decorah's Morgan Brauer at #4 singles and Mya Herrmann at #5 singles were able to win the second set, but they both lost in the tiebreakers.

Decorah's lone win was at #3 doubles, where Mya Herrmann and Sophia Maguina prevailed with a 7-5, 6-4 victory.

Said head coach Larry Berland, "We will see what happens on Wednesday in individual play to qualify for State in singles and doubles."

Singles:
#1: Mara Frieden lost 4-6, 2-6
#2: Alli Groux lost 0-6, 1-6
#3: Soleih Smith lost 3-6, 0-6
#4: Morgan Brauer lost 4-6, 6-2, 6-10 tiebreaker
#5: Mya Herrmann lost 4-6, 6-1, 5-10 tiebreaker
#6: Josie Kleckner lost 3-6, 4-6

Doubles:
#1: Mara Frieden and Morgan Brauer lost 2-6, 5-7
#2: Alli Groux and Josie Kleckner lost 0-6, 2-6
#3: Mya Herrmann and Sophia Maguina won 7-5, 6-4
