This is head coach Loren Henrickson's second year at the helm of the Decorah girls soccer team. Last season their record was 6-10. The team lost just two players to graduation, Amelia Folkedahl and Micala Folkedahl.

Top returning players are seniors Aubrey Buresh, Hannah Feuerhelm, Rachel Hudson, Celia Lesmeister, Skyler Malone, Elise Miller, Lauren Raddatz, and Gracia Taylor. Top underclassman include Abby Milburn, Clara Rooney, and Payton Taylor, all sophomores.

"Our team strengths should come from defense and goalkeeping, where our starter (GK) has been there for four years.  Another strength is the number of seniors (13) who have been playing soccer together for many years," said Coach Henrickson.

Hendrickson added, "Concerns for the season boil down to getting a scorer(s) who is/are consistent putting the ball in the net, one (or more) who will force defenses to account for her whenever she's on the field.  Last year I was hoping we'd score a number of "team" goals.  That didn't necessarily happen.  We were on the losing end of a number of shutouts.  We need to work on that."

"I think we can definitely improve on last year's record.  With another year of maturity and experience under our belts, we should," predicts Hendrickson.

The girls first game is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2nd against Waverly-Shell Rock at home.
