Decorah Viking Wrestling Head Coach Jeff Freidhof has resigned after 18 years of leading the program and one year as an assistant.

Under Freidhof's guidance the Vikings had an overall dual record of 203-157-1. During that time Freidhof coached 21 wrestlers to Northeast Iowa Conference titles while helping 45 wrestlers qualify for the state wrestling tournament.  Of those qualifiers, 21 were state place winners with one finishing as a runner up and Taylor Mansfield finishing as a State Champion in 2006.

Said Freidhof, "Decorah High School wrestling has a storied history--I feel so fortunate and blessed to have had the opportunity to teach and coach at Decorah and be part of that outstanding history...I will miss the many great relationships I have formed with student/athletes, coaches, families and supporters. I am very excited for the program going forward as I believe it is in a good position right now with a fantastic group of student/athletes and assistant coaches returning."

Freidhof thanks the Decorah Community School District, the Decorah community, everyone who has had an influence on him and the wrestling program and all the student/athletes who took the challenge to be Decorah Viking Wrestlers.
