Gundersen Decorah Clinic, Winneshiek Medical Center and Decorah High School are presenting a sports symposium Thursday night titled "Injury prevention and returning to activity."
The free event will be presented from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the Decorah High School Auditorium. The program is for athletes of all ages and abilities and their families. Coaches can receive one credit towards their certificate renewal by attending this program.
"Our goal for the symposium is to keep people of all ages active and injury free by providing brief, informative talks based on current research and medical practice," explains Andrea Wilson, PA, an orthopaedic physician assistant at Gundersen Decorah Clinic. "We encourage parental and coaching involvement so they feel more comfortable navigating with their children through the unique needs they have at this stage in their active life style."
This symposium will focus on maximizing nutrition, body mechanics and concussion management to prevent injury and allow for safe return to activity after injury.
