Girls track and field team competes in Dickinson Relays

The 2019 girls track and field team has begun their season as part of the team traveled to UNI on Monday to compete in the Dickinson Relays.

Decorah was led by the 4 x 200 relay team who finished in 8th place with their time of 1:52.94. The 4 x 400 relay team finished in 14th place as they crossed the finish line in 4:28.90. The 4 x 800 relay team finished in 11:00.69, putting them in 22nd place.

Sophomore Grace Thompson crossed the finish line in 30.31, in the 200 meter dash, junior Amanda Kuehner finished in 30.73, and junior Ambria Pipho finished in 30.87. In the 400 meter run junior Olivia Battle finished the race in 1:09.91, senior Cassidy Carolan finished in 1:10.13, and junior Meg Sessions finished in 1:10.92. Junior Brooke Courtney ran in the 800 meters and crossed the finish line in 2:42.11, while sophomore Samantha See finished in 2:55.74.

Sophomore Avery Shelton threw the shot put 31 feet, and junior Katherine Bruening had a throw of 29 feet, 1 inch. Junior Ambria Pipho had a high jump of 4 feet 8 inches. Sophomore Cassie Wyatt had a long jump of 14 feet, 5 inches.

It's a couple more weeks of practice and training for the team, and then they will compete at the Luther indoor track and field meet on Saturday, March 16th.
