Decorah's Andy Murphy wrestles to a place on the winners' platform at the State Wrestling Meet

Decorah wrestler Andy Murphy finished his State Wrestling Meet appearance in a satisfying way on Saturday, winning his final match to finish 7th overall at 195 pounds in Class 2A.

Murphy defeated Joel Osborn, a senior from Humbolt with a record of 39-10, taking a 9-7 decision.

In finishing 7th at the State Meet, Murphy won three times and lost three times.  He lost his opening round match to Caleb Olson from East Marshall with a fall at 1:13, then wrestled in the consolation bracket and defeated Chayce Hooyer from Sioux Center with a fall at 2:59 and won his second consolation bracket match, defeating Jordan Bries of West Delaware in a 7-2 decision.

Murphy then faced Thomas Bentley of Red Oak and lost by fall at 0:43, setting up the match Saturday for 7th place, which he won by defeating Osborn.
